With wedding season just around the corner, it's time to talk about one of the most exciting steps in your beauty journey, your wedding makeup preview appointment! This is your chance to collaborate with your makeup artist, fine-tune your dream look, and ensure you feel your absolute best on your big day.
To make the most of your preview, I recommend scheduling your appointment 3-4 months before your wedding. This allows time for adjustments while keeping the look fresh in your mind. Remember, a preview is designed specifically for your wedding day look, not as a free makeup session for another event, so plan accordingly!
How to Make the Most of Your Wedding Makeup Preview Appointment
1. Complete Your Makeup Artist’s Questionnaire
Before your appointment, I’ll send you a questionnaire to get a sense of your style, skin type, and preferences. This includes:
Allergies or sensitivities
Your daily makeup routine (if any!)
Skin finish preference (matte, radiant, or dewy)
Makeup inspiration photos
Filling this out in advance helps me tailor the experience to your unique needs!
2. Wear White
If possible, wear a white top or something close to your wedding dress colour. This helps you visualize how your makeup will complement your bridal attire.
3. Style Your Hair Similar to Your Wedding Day Look
Whether you’re going for soft waves or a chic updo, having your hair styled similarly to how you envision it for your wedding will give you the most accurate preview of your final look.
4. Bring Inspiration Photos
Visual references are incredibly helpful! If you haven’t already uploaded inspiration photos in the questionnaire, bring them along or send them ahead of time. This ensures we’re on the same page with the look you’re envisioning.
Pro Tip: Instead of simply searching for "natural makeup" or "soft glam makeup," look for inspiration photos featuring people with features similar to yours (such as brown hair, blue eyes, tan skin, or hooded eyes). With AI's increasing presence, Pinterest is now filled with AI-generated makeup images. I recommend using Instagram to find inspiration from real artists.
5. Consider a Spray Tan Trial
Planning to get a spray tan for your wedding? Try scheduling one before your preview to see the full vision of your final bridal look. This will help you get a true sense of how everything will come together on your big day.
Why a Wedding Makeup Preview is Important
Your wedding makeup preview isn’t just about trying on a look. It’s about fine-tuning every detail to ensure it’s perfect for your big day. From adjusting colours to ensuring your foundation matches your skin tone and desired finish, this trial ensures you’ll walk down the aisle feeling confident and radiant.
